the OHIO RIVER FLYING RAY

It was a clear, pleasant night in Point Pleasant, West Virginia on December 3, 2004. A couple was driving out of town and to Huntington, alongside the Ohio River, when the passenger spotted something strange. Over the water, she saw something big moving in the sky. It was gray, had a smooth body, and seemed to have a pair of featherless wings. The thing drew closer and closer to their vehicle. Flying right above them, it darted forward, ahead of them. The thing flung itself around in an impressive figure-8 motion, then vanished into thin air.

"We were driving on 62 late one night, on our way back from a vacation. There hadn’t been a car that passed us in a long time, so when I saw two red lights in the rear-view mirror, it confused me. The lights came closer and closer, and then I saw, like, a flat-ish body with two triangular wings; it followed us for a while—even though we were speeding pretty badly—then vanished. We were so close to Point Pleasant that I always told people that I saw the Mothman. The weird thing, though, was that it had a long, pointed tail. It looked more like a manta ray than a flying man, moth, or anything else like that, but who knows."
