A horned, anthropomorphic figure described as "half-goat, half-demon", Krampus visits naughty children during the Christmas season, punishing them for their misbehavior; some are spanked with a bundle of birch twigs, while the worst are whisked away in a sack. Krampus can be heard in the distance - bells tied to him jingling and broken chains dragging behind.
