Ray & Skate-Type Air Rods are quite different from C-Type Air Rods. They have 2 to 6 triangular, membrane-like wings, teardrop or cigar-shaped, tapering bodies, and are more gelatinous in appearance. Unlike the more segmented C-Types, these Air Rods may be completely segment-less, having one complete, flabby body; some have a scale-shaped, segmented core. RS-Air Rod species are carnivorous predators, hunting and feeding upon other Air Rods, as well as the young of larger Atmospheric Beasts, or their carcasses. They are the fastest type of Air Rod and utilize many methods to entice or capture prey, such as luring with lights or ambush hunting.

RS-Type Air Rods were discovered in the mid-2000s thanks to digital trail

cameras. Left on porches, next to driveways, yards, outdoor paths, and

stretches of wilderness, cameras positioned near a little light began

to photograph strange creatures: plump bat-bird-bug hybrids with

two long, angular, stretched wings - or even four or more pairs of

them.
